The title of my blog references Matthew 8:26, as explained in the following poem I wrote some years ago:
They are all the rage, these vanity plates,
Yet I’ve never been able to decide on mine.
A Greek word might be nice – some colleagues go that route,
But which one would suit me fine?
A favorite Greek word? Yes, I have a few.
But the best one just won’t do!
“Oligopistoi” – there it is;
“Little-faiths” when we translate.
The problem…it’s too long for the plate!Sailing on the sea, and sick they were.
A storm was raging, and He asleep in the boat.
They lacked the faith or imagination
To understand that His power would keep them afloat.
“Master, save!” they cried in their dread.
He awoke, and calmed the sea.
“Oligopistoi” – “O ye of little faith,”
Was what he said.A word too long for my license plate, that’s a concern.
But as I sail through life, a name that often graces my stern.
Do I really trust my Lord to carry me through the storms of life? I would hope so. But I also know that I am much in need of His grace, day by day. Soli deo gloria!

love the poetry! didn’t check this page out until now.
